UK Natural Gas Portfolio

Spark has a blue chip acreage position on the Rona Ridge in the West of Shetland. Key highlights of the portfolio include:

  • JV with Siccar Point - a 50:50 joint venture with Blackstone’s Siccar Point Energy
  • Transitional natural gas appraisal project – Tuck opportunity has up to 1 Tcf recoverable resource supported by amplitude anomaly
  • Infrastructure access - initiated gas commercialization discussions with infrastructure owners (Total and BP)
  • High quality data – extensive modern 3D seismic data
  • UK gas crisis – unprecedented high gas prices in the UK over 2021

Compressed Air Energy Storage

Through an option in CTGA, Spark has exclusive licence to CTG technology / IP for Australia & New Zealand. CTG has been developed in Canada (with a number of patents lodged and pending), with the concept being to utilise excess electricity to store compressed air in cased wells, releasing the air to generate electricity when required. It is an energy storage technology which could have numerous global applications, particularly in support of increasing renewable energy generation.

  • CWCAS is a highly scalable energy storage solution which combines the capabilities of the oil and gas sector with proven technology suitable for any environment
  • Sub-surface battery array of high-pressure storage casings are installed and matched to suitable air compression machinery powered by available renewable energy (solar/wind) to provide versatile, stable long-duration renewable energy storage
  • A 1 MW demonstration plant is being planned in Western Australia (several sites being considered) to demonstrate the commercial readiness of the technology to a number of interested parties seeking to adopt the technology

Lithium Projects in the Pilbara, WA

Spark has lodged applications for 3 mineral tenements in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. These are early stage projects, potentially prospective for lithium mineralisation, based on geology and surface stream sediment anomalies. The tenements are located in a region which hosts the world class Pilgangoora (Pilbara Minerals) and Wodgina (Mineral Resources) lithium deposits.
